With great reviews coming from a recent visit to Oslo, promoting a new album Tha Liks (a.k.a The Alkoholiks) seemed to be still running hot since the last time I was in their presence in Sydney 2 years ago. There was no doubt I had to hit this show. The scene was set with a pleasent summer evening in Göteborg. Making my way to the gig to try and catch the band as they hit the stage with a scheduled time of 12.00am. It was not the case, Tha Liks were keen to create alot more anticipation than the audience expected. Allowing an extra hour or so to let their fans to slip into the groove of the FAT MILK night held at 'Kompaniet', and sip on a few more mixed drinks to loosen up for the dance floor. You could say it worked like a charm for the boys! While hanging out for the live action I took the time to wander the club and spark up conversations with fellow comrads of the night. (Word Up to 'Tha Roadtrippers')
J-Ro rolled out to an awaiting audience and the other members on tail. The night was fully underway!!! After hearing they had hooked up a Swedish dj for the nights proceedings I was left wondering where the E-Swift component to group was.

The lads took to the stage and used every bit of space they could, their high energy and tight flow as good as ever. They had the crowd in their palms of their hands from the second they stepped out. Well known for their party performances and antics Tha Liks stepped up to the occasion. Even with a late arrival, they came on prepared with sweet beats & rhymes and they had the area decked out with beer and liqure. True Alkoholic style!
Flying through classics like "Only When I'm Drunk" and newies too, they kept the audience bumping off of eachother and before long it was time for the drinking contest. The highlights for the night could be tossed between the Neptunes produced "Best U Can" and the anthemic "Another Round" (Sreamin'...' Part over there, fuck ya'll over there. We are the 'Al-ko-hol-ics'). No special guest appearences tonight by Pharrell unfortunately, none the less it was well and truley steamin under the low set roof of the club.
On the road in Europe again, Tha Liks surely rocked the Göteborg crowd. Everyone either hard pressed against the front iron barricade or to stage left with hands and fists in the air when required of them. Overall performence went down a treat with the locals this evening. Tha Liks or Alkoholiks? whatever... They'll be back!
