Last Days Of April
venue: Prisma, Västerås
date: 2004-09-25
The Last Days Of April are one the first bands to been invited to Västerås’ string of up coming gig nights at the tiered venue Prismasalen. The night at Prisma will hold a lot of well known bands over the fall with an event called Saturday Night Live. A little autumn bonus for the fans of live music that don’t get to make it into the countries capital city (Stockholm is approx 1 hour from Västerås) to catch the touring bands.

The mid September evening was warmed up by a bunch of younger bands getting the chance to run their rehearsal room performances on the large stage. The lot of them passing by with out much impact other than on the mates that come out to support them. As they should! Then it was time for Last Days to take centre stage.

The band currently a 5 piece, finely tuned, tightly wound unit that releases monstrous indie rock mixed with the quiet, gentler elements of your hearts only desires. The opening track had the entire crowd in a startled stare. An epic beginning to what would be a gig that offered a lot of emo-tion and layered groove. Song after song the band seemed to gel to their found riffs touching each onlooker in a place they weren’t expecting. I’m positive that each of us in the audience was equally stunned.

It may have been sometime since the band had been in this city and what a great way to come back with such a strong bunch of songs and ambition. The venue not close to being full tonight but you wouldn’t have noticed it during the LDOA set for a millisecond while they played out and for us. It was as pleasant as they come. It got late. It got cold but it got impressive. Definitely Sweden’s hottest indie act. Keep your eyes peeled in a city near as there are rumors that they will be touching many parts of the globe with gigs just like these. I’m just jealous of you all.
