Connor Kirby recorded his debut album (Handwriting) when he was sixteen years old in the basement of his parents’ house. He didn’t want them to know that he was making music so he whispered the lyrics. Two years later the album has sold 5000 copies in Sweden, much thanks to Andres Lokko’s TV program This Is Our Music.

The kid handles the unexpected success in a pretty charming way. His fellow musicians, drummer and computer player, come directly out of an American comedy about high school nerds and they seem terrified to be on stage. Khonnor himself though manages to be comfortable even though the whole thing seems unrehearsed and a bit awkward, with him reading the lyrics from a paper, coughing etc. The normal thing would be to perform this suggestive and enchanting music on a more respectful way (he seems quite drunk as well) but now we get a spontaneous show with humour and nerve – and it’s refreshing and magnificent. I think this wonder boy will do loads of marvellous music in the future. This could be the beginning of a beautiful musicianship.
